1ST BLAT OF 2007The weather was right, and I had a bit of spare time for once, so I dusted off the seven, for the first time in about two months. Checked all the tyre pressures, oil, and clutch and brakes (...as some of the Lotus 7 Club will remember, my brake fluid mysteriously ‘evoporated’ whilst in winter storage last year !!!!) and all was OK. Rolled it out ogf the garage, and connected the battery, turned the key to be greeted by a very slow turning of the engine but no ignition. 2 months of not starting had taken it’s toll , but I had foreseen this and bought a fantastic mobile jump start/ compressor from Aldi the night before (£25). Connected it up, and she fired straight up....JOY ! Headed out towards Marlborough at first, and then proceeded on just taking any road that looked like it had some turns. After a few sideways moments off roundabouts the sun began to dry the road out , and it was on to Marlborough, and then around some very nice twisty roads towards Andover. Passed some interesting cars out for a blat including a nice Elan (mk1), Elise 1, a new beetle lowered on old beetle domed hubcap wheels – v.nice !), and I even got a wave from a flat capped bloke in an old Aston ! Finally ended up at Thruxton Circuit Cafe for tea and biscuits. The end of a perfect day. Come on Summer !!!
