LOTUS CELEBRATION (BRANDS HATCH) – 24th MARCHThe day started off well – The car ran flawlessly as ever, but when I got to Normans’s his 7 was not well and wouldn’t turn over – However, a couple of aborted push starts, and some skinned hands !!! later we were off in convoy (well, two cars !!!).
Arrived at Brands Hatch for about 10.00am , and boy was it cold !!!
Parking had been arranged by the Lotus 7 Club right on the circuit at Paddock Bend (the site of many an ‘off’), and we parked next to the other 100 Sevens and headed into Hailwoods Cafe for a much needed cup of Tea.
It was a great day, and some landmark Lotus machines were on show and on-track including 60’s Lotus F1 Car, 211, Exige GT3, Europa, Elise GT1 (nice !), along with just about everything. Lotus ever produced – Colin Chapman would have been proud !.
We also got 3 parade laps, with 96 cars on the track and even got up to race-speed out of Paddock and into Druids.
A great day, but a bit too bloody cold !!! TT DIAGNOSTICSWent up to VAGCHECK to see if they could sort out my electrical gremlins I have had since buying my 'Hairdressers Car' last June, and after several visits to Audi garages !.
Morgan plugged his PC into my diag port and found it was the longitudinal sensor (front-to-rear G-sensor) pretty quickly, and just to check plugged his own one into my car to double check. After re-plugging mine in , it mysteriously worked, but still thows the odd error up.
He even diagnosed a duff Diverter-valve (dump-valve) boost leak, and fitted a new one for me on the spot - Result is that the car now drives like a completely different vehicle !
UPDATE: Still getting the fault even intermittantly !!! - :( , now looks like the cat-warmup pump has failed - more woes ! - this bloody thing is a lemon ! SKI-ING AT LES ARCS , FranceWhat can I say, a great resort, but possibly the rudest , most unhelpful people I have ever met !!! Le Village at Arc1950, set 6000 ft up the Alps near Bourg St. Maurice in SE France is a purpose-built 4 star mini village. The cool bit is you can ski in and out of the village, almost up to your door. It has the picturesque look of an Austrian town at Christmas, but this is seriously blighted by the attitude of the locals, whether it’s swearing under their breath after they’ve served us, or just shrugging their shoulders when you ask them a simple question, or trying to change money. Anyway, onto the good bit – it started snowing the day we arrived on the Eurostar at 7.30am, our chalets were not ready , so we changed into our ski gear in the baggage room in the basement and set off to the slopes – what an awesome ski area – everything from REALLY DEEP powder to some really nice long red runs, and a few challenging black runs too - all serviced by cable-cars and chair-lifts. The Chalet was right on the piste and v. Well equipped with self catering facilities – we could even get SKY and BBC 1 !!!. The last day was interesting as the weather on the mountain can change in minutes as I found when I ski-d off a 10ft ridge , and faceplanted (luckily) into some new snow. Upon dusting myself off, and ski-ing back down the mountain, i found , rather embarrassingly , that I have ripped the crotch out of my salopettes and my ‘precious’ was on show for all and sundry. Oh,and avoid the Los Chicanos restaurant unless you have a 6-point harness on your toilet!!!!!!!! |
